North Texas Free-mo was established in November 2008. Since that time we have grown from concept to an operational Free-mo group holding our first setup in September of 2009. We are still in the building phase of our group and our modules. The majority of our modules model the mid-west though there is no specified requirement to model such.

North Texas Free-mo strictly follows the Free-mo standard and is here to promote that standard, prototype modeling, and camaraderie among HO modelers. We welcome all who believe in the same.

In December 2010, NTxF adopted the Modular Occupancy Detection System (MODS), as developed by NorCalF and SLO-Mo, as a local standard. This system provides a reversible, modular block occupancy framework for track side signal animation. All NTxF modules built after January 1, 2011 will be required to be MODS compliant. All existing modules prior to that date are required to be compliant by January 1, 2012.

In addition, a majority of NTxF members have begun transitioning to Sergent Engineering couplers. These prototypically correct scale sized couplers are available from sergentengineering.com. While becoming the new coupler standard for NTxF, they are not required to participate in our setups or to be a member of the group.
